Angel Investing Funding Investors: The Ones to Turn to
from:Forsgrens
Have you exhausted your “3 f’s” money options?
If you want your business to grow, yet cannot get money from friends, family and fools, you need to start looking for venture capitalists. You would only need to sacrifice a huge chunk of your interest to get the money you need.
Not ready for that yet, huh? Do you think your only option is a miracle?
What you need is an angel investor.
Angel investors are usually retired businessmen who have a ton of cash they would be willing to use in order to help your company out.
And they do this for just a bit of interest in your company… and a bit of action.
You can call angel investors the middle step in a growing business.
Although funding investors often infuse comparably smaller amounts of cash than VC’s, you can be assured that your company will remain to be your company.
With these funding investors, you are also dealing with people, not a huge, heartless financing corporation; so you can actually relate with the guys.
Angel investors understand the struggles of the entrepreneur, making them more like mentors than financiers.
They can give you advice, help you with management decisions and generally help your company grow.
After all, these angel investors are successful businessmen.
But what does attract a funding investor?
First of all, you need to present a funding investor with something he understands.
What does this mean?
An angel will most likely invest in a business he has familiarity with. Angel investors gravitate to businesses not unlike the ones they used to have.
Your company may not be exactly similar to their businesses, but it should be familiar enough for the angel to understand how it runs.
Interest is also a key to attracting a funding investor.
If you leave your money in the bank, it will also gain interest, right?
So why should the angel investors give you his?
You need to show him that, compared to leaving his money in the bank, investing in your company will be so much more exciting.
You need to arouse the angel investor’s interest – show him the passion for business that you have.
Since you are dealing with a person, trust and respect is very important. In dealing with an angel investing funding investor, he needs to see that he can respect you.
In order to be respected, you of course need to show respect.
Respect need not be shown through extravagant gestures, it is the little things you do that count.
Most likely, the angel investor will observe you, and not the actual business.
So be careful. In an angel’s mind, the right attitude always counts.
The angel investor also needs to be shown that he can actually contribute to company growth, and not just finance it.
You have to understand that most of these funding investors contribute their money because they feel tired of being just the headman of their own companies.
Some angel investors just want to return to the roots of being a manager of a small company, making decisions that have immediate impacts on the business.
Finally, they need to see that you can do well with just the right amount of money. You need to show that you can manage their investments well enough not to need additional infusions of cash.
If you can handle a little, you could receive a lot, right?
